2019 Greystone Golf Club Captains Cup

Welcome to the 2019 Greystone Golf Club Captains Cup.

The Captains Cup at Greystone was first introduced in the mid 2000’s as the Presidents Club and although it was well received, the program with limited funding was removed as an event from the Greystone Golf Club Calendar. The program was originally a two day event, comprised of four ball matches on Saturday and singles matches on Sunday. There were between ten and twelve players per side and each match was valued at three points.

In the early days qualification for the Captains Cup was based on an Order of Merit, where points were earned throughout the year based on the individual results. Points were awarded for all events, Men’s Night, Member Guest, Inter Club Qualifying and various other member events throughout the year.

The Captains Cup was revisited and brought to the membership by Ken Olsen, Vice Captain at the time and Matt Robinson the head golf professional at Greystone. With club support and sponsorship, the Greystone Golf Club Captains Cup has become a highlight for the membership at Greystone and is highly contested. The format has been very successful based on a Ryder Cup format.
