Board Position: Competition and Format
PURPOSE:
To support the management team in their goals and objectives while promoting and supporting the vision statement.
VISION:
Provide the best member club experience through excellence in service, course condition, food quality and member comradery.
SCOPE OF POSITION
Help develop event formats including Men’s Night, 9 and Dine, and other applicable Competitive Club Events. Also to provide support to the advisory board as needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the managing partner (Head Golf Professional) in developing / finalizing the desired formats for Men’s Night including prizing.
- Communicate with participates regarding the event(s) and get feedback for improvement if necessary.
- Work closely with Social and Hospitality on event formats for 9 and Dine and other club events.
Prior to the competition, some considerations are:
- Establish Entry requirements to events.
- Establish Entry deadline.
- Help with explaining the Men’s might format to participants prior to the start of the event.
- Establish guidelines for Eligibility (e.g. age limit, Handicap Index limit, whether players must be amateurs or professionals etc.).
- Entry procedure (certain competitions may require a sign-up sheet in the clubhouse).
- The Committee must specify the form of play (i.e. Individual Stroke Play, Four-Ball Stroke Play, Four-Ball Match Play, Foursomes, Stableford, etc.). Additionally, if the form of play is one not covered by the Rules of Golf, e.g. a best-ball-of-four, or ‘scramble’
- Establish, in advance, any special conditions which apply.
- The method of settling ties must be specified – see Rules of Golf Appendix I; Part C; Section 11 for the CPGA recommendation on this matter.
- Explain the markings of the course to players before an event, if there is any special consideration of play on the course.
- Local Rules and Notice to Players.
Shared Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive image of Greystone.
- Provide Member Feedback to the Greystone Management Team and Advisory board.
- Try to participate in Club Captain Events within ClubLink.
- Support, talk and assist all members when required.
- Support Men’s Night program including 50/50 fundraiser, promotion of sponsor nights and special events.
- Help in promoting the business and Vision Statement of Greystone Golf Club.
- Always be promoting the club to potential new club members and club events to current members.
