Captain’s Welcome 2019

Welcome to the 2019 Golf Season,

We are so close to once again walking down the fairways while enjoying a round with old friends and soon to be new ones. As the last bit of snow thaws and spring finally arrives, Greystone will be open and better than ever.

I want to start by welcoming all of the returning members back after a long winter hiatus and to extend a special, warm welcome to those who are new to the Greystone family. Whether you have transferred from another Clublink Club, Trafalgar GCCC or are a new member altogether, we are excited to have you as a part of our exceptional community. You all will soon find that Greystone is not only steep in tradition but the membership is friendly, respectful and highly loyal.

Lots of changes have occurred over the winter however one notable change is the addition of Dave Newsome as our General Manager. Dave is not new to Greystone, many of you might recognize him as I believe that this is where he cut his teeth in the golfing industry. We are fortunate to welcome back a familiar face and are certainly excited to see what he has planned for 2019.

It is my pleasure to also welcome back Matt Robinson and his staff who are looking forward to helping out with the members needs on and off the golf course.

As many of you know, this winter we have said goodbye to Glenn Phillips, Rob Townsend and Greg Thacker. We wish them all the best in their new position and thank them for all their dedication to Greystone while they were here.

Your advisory board has been working diligently all winter to make sure this year is one to remember. We have taken into consideration all your emails to the board members, feedback in the hallways and your answers from our survey and are confident that we have found new ways to improve the Greystone experience on and off the course. The board appreciates all of your support, we thank you for your participation and we encourage you all to be as active as possible this year.

One of our consistent and continued priorities is fundraising to support our members and improve our member experience. As a result, we have created many new opportunities to raise money through a variety of sponsorship programs. All money raised is strictly for the members to be used to strengthen our traditional events while launching new and unique events. For more detailed information, or to learn how you can support the club, please contact Bill Hutton, Michael Bickerton or Glenn Wilding. Their emails or phone numbers can be found in the Greystone website.

Greystone has, and continues to be, fuelled by the participation of our members. Quite simply, our club is as strong as its membership wants it to be. Myself, the staff and you advisory board are committed to making sure that 2019 is the best season Greystone has ever seen however we cannot do it alone. The more input and involvement from you will go a long way to ensuring that we meet our goals.

I am beyond excited to see many familiar faces, meet all of our new members and maybe, if I am lucky, hit a fairway or two this season.

Thank you for all of your support.
